Shed Your Burdens and Build

More background work for this animation deal.  Since my last post, I have knocked out 4 total, with these two here being my favorites.  Going for the whole sunset/dusk look is so fun.  The oranges and reds and such...and a little yellow and a little purple makes me feel all tingly inside!  Well, for right now...there really isn't much to report.  Oh...background timing...they both took about 3 hours a piece.  Not bad, aye?  More to come.

Welcome to BG World!

As stated in my previous entry, I will be doing more animation work and of course...with animation there will be backgrounds to go along with them.  SO!  This little ditty here comes from a scene in my Cerulean animation.  The atmosphere throughout the short will be during dusk.  I wanted to get that effect here with the bedroom and with the colors that come through the blinds and reflect on the walls and everything else.  "Pill bottles?", is probably what you're saying to yourself.  Well...yeah.  One thing that I forgot to add before saving out this jpeg were the prescription information that would be on these bottles...I did that on purpose.  They will be in the final animation, also, I am thinking about adding a little more to this too and changing that "strength" poster as a whole, if not just the text.  Just to clutter it up a bit more, plus that text is bugging the crap out of me at the moment.  Considering the angle and where the character will be within the scen...I may not be able to add much.  But we'll see when we get to that part.

I Would Love To Take You There...

I had a BLAST doing this one.  So many elements to work with here.  Not so much as far as with color as I had wanted to keep things pretty blue.  Working with water...I think I am more proud with how the bubbles came out.  As I was working along, I had Frozen Creek by Circa Survive playing along in the background...this piece here took me about 3 days, I think, which includes errands and going to work in between that time frame.

This piece will be the last for a bit, because I will be animating for the next couple of months.  It's has been a while since I have animated traditionally, so I am really stoked about that.  More to come!

Background Design Concept

Nothing to crazy, but this here is a BG from an animation I am doing for my comic, "Cerulean".  I did the whole deal in Photoshop...however, the atmosphere doesn't feel sincere enough for me.  It feels more like plastic than anything.  In this particular shot, the character is suppose to be at the tip of cliff looking onward.  Pretty generic/cliche but it was simplest BG that I could do a quick render of without taking too much time.  Since it didn't meet my expectations in Photoshop, I think what I will do is try the same BG in Painter and see what I can get out of it.  Or...I should just get better at Photoshop (Oooooo, burrrrrrnnnnnnn).  Wish me luck!

Rebirth

I'm not sure if I am gonna add this one to the Second Love project, but I will definitely share it with you all.  As simple as it may look, it took me quite a bit to actually come to a good with how I wanted the background to look.  At first I was gonna throw a few objects in it, i.e. a heart or symbols or some sort of texture, but then I figured that, if this is indeed a rebirth, it would make sense to add a bright light at the end of what seems to be a dark tunnel.

Man...what a run-on sentence that was.  Haha.  Before the final "edit", I guess you can say, I originally had eyes within all of the fingertips and thumbs.  They were watching the baby as he was crawling.

Music of inspiration?  Their wasn't one for this one, however, The Most Dangerous Commercials by Circa Survive did set the mood as I was painting away.

Sneaky Felines...

Another pic for PTHSL.  This one really wasn't inspired by music, however, as I was drawing , the acoustic version of Ameliorate by Fiore was the only thing I was listening to.  The piece took about 3.5 hours.  Not too shabby.

Paper Thin Hearts: Second Love

Hello all!  First off, welcome to the blog.  Hope enjoy my work enough to bookmark it and send it around via word of mouth.

Well, now that I have greeted you, I would like to welcome you (again) to a project that I have had in the works for a while now.  This is more or less the second installment of this project I would like to call, Paper Thin Hearts.  These pieces of works have been inspired by music from a selection of artists, mainly one of them being Circa Survive.  They are abstract/contemporary pieces on how I view, well, love!

We'll start things off with this piece here that was inspired by "Someone Like You" by Safetysuit.  I am working on making these pieces of art into a book later on down the line.  Hopefully I will be able to accomplish that before the year is out.  Along with this project, there will be more art of many different types from concepts to sketches to animations!  So strap on your seat belts and get ready!
