Figures!!!

Another collage of sketches that I do as warm ups before animating.  Enjoy!

Characters!!!

Well...not REALLY...I mean there are some...these are more just sketches that I do to warm up for my animation sessions.  Nothing else to really say about this...haha.  OH! I did have a little fun messing around with the masked dudes weight and overall mass.  There is a slim looking version and then a more built version. AND, there's this Kramer caricature that I did too, haha. Other than that, had fun!  Enjoy.

Don't Call It A Comeback, I Was Home Anyway

Howdy all!  It has INDEED been a while since my last post.  Well, that's because I have been animating!  I will admit, I did run into a slump, but that happens. Good news, however; I broke free from those horrible clutches and have been back on track ever since.  This next piece is actually something that my Aunt asked me to do a WHILE ago...like a year ago, and I never really got around to it due to forgetting and such.  Well, I decided to finally knock it out and hopefully mail it to her all nice and framed by Christmas!!!

She is a big fan of Bishop from the X-Men cartoon that aired in the early 90's...1992 I wanna say.  She said she just wanted Bishop and that I could add anyone else I wanted to into the mix.  So what I did was take that cast that was around during that storyline (in the show) and made it work.  I think Gambit was apart of it too...and Rogue.  Oh well, maybe next time.  Enjoy!!!

Feed The One That's Closer, As You're Flickering On

Remember the animation bit I was working on, with my story Cerulean?  Well I am back on that for the time being.  I am currently burnt out on my SF stuff at the moment and will be getting into this animation a little more than ever now, especially since the BGs are almost complete!  Well, without any more yapping from me, here is the latest.

Meet Mel Masters!!!

Yes!!!  The main character of this whole game.  Those who have followed the Street Fighter franchise know that Ken and Iliza (I think that is her name) had a boy and named him Mel.  Well, in this particular installment, Mel is older and has been trained in the form of Shotokan by his father, Ken.  Mel's purpose in this installment is to seek out Sean, who, after being consumed by the Dark Hadou, killed Ken.  Mel and Sean's friendship dates all the way back when Ken first started training Sean.  Mel does not seek revenge, but searches for Sean to try and save him from himself.  Mel's style takes after his father a great deal, with some of his own added moves.  His speed is just about the same as Ken's as well as his attitude.  When you have a world championship father who trains you since the moment you were able to stand up on your own two feet, it's okay to be a little cocky.  Just a little.

Meet Cataract!!!

Interesting fellow this Cataract guy is.  He works alongside Bison during the quest for capturing Sean.  So, why the purple skin???  Well, for one...he's actually dead.  During the saga of SF, Bison had been chipping away at a side project to find a legendary wrestler (whom I have no name for as of yet) that possesses the ability to successfully defeat his opponents with size and speed.  Unfortunately, this wrestler passed away due to heart problems from overusing a steroid that helped him achieve his legendary status.  Bison figured this guy would be a great asset to Shadloo even if he had to dig up his body and resurrect him.  Plus, it was easy to recruit him without having to force him to join.

In order to resurrect Cataract, Bison passed along some of his Psycho energy into Cataract's body which causes his skin to turn purple.  He also injected a good amount of the steroid that Cataract used when he was alive to amplify his strength and speed.  Cataract no longer knows how to speak.  Instead he murmurs and makes weird noises to express his mood.  He is big and FAST and can cause a good amount of damage if you let him get close.  You have been forewarned.

Meet Tora!!!

This is Tora!  Like Arthur, she doesn't really have a significant role in this game.  She is on a quest to find Sagat and defeat him...for bragging rights.  Her motive's quite a selfish one, but as a female Muay Thai fighter she feels this will open plenty of doors for other female fighters or for those who are interested in taking up the art.  During her journey, she crosses paths with Mel and finds out that Sagat has already been defeated by his father's best friend, Ryu.  After hearing that, Tora then decides to find Ryu and beat him.  She's about 5'10 - 5'11 and has a pretty killer elbow strike.  Cocky at times, she seems very arrogant, however she balances that out with a great sense of sportsmanship before and after a fight.  Her speed is moderate and she has the ability to fight from any range.  Be careful!!!

Meet Arthur!!!

This is Arthur.  He doesn't necessarily have a special role in the game.  He's a professional billiards player that travels the world to compete with others.  Billiard competitions have started to become boring to him and so he sort of goes out and starts a little trouble by asking around to find who's the best fighter within that local area.  His style of fighting is a mixture of raw talent with a twist of his trick shot moves added in.  Will he have a pool stick?  Absolutely not.  Will he throw cue balls and such?  Nope.  He's a close range fighter with one mid range move which he throws chalk dust in the eyes of his opponent.  Dirty, right?  That's Arthur for you.

Meet C. Bison!!!

As we move onward with these character design ideas, I present to you C. Bison.  Who is this woman, that looks and has a similar outfit like M. Bison?  Well...to be honest...this IS M. Bison!

"Jah WAAAAAAAAAAAAH?!?!", says the audience.

Yes!  That's right.  This is actually M. Bison.  So what does the "C" stand for?  Cammy!  Here's the scoop.  I really enjoyed what I heard about him and Akuma meeting each other and being defeated by Akuma's Shun Goku Satsu.  In SF4 his technicians recovered what they could of Bison and placed him into a better body.  Well in this spin, the mock SF game, I decided to have that as his back story, however, before he is put back into another Bison like body, he has a temporary container that was developed with his DNA and Cammy's DNA until the new Bison body is complete.

Still following???

He absolutely HATES this body and he even went as far as killing half the team off because of this.  However it's allowing him continue building the Shadaloo empire by seeking out new, more deadly fighters, and having them join Shadaloo.  He is also in search for Akuma to get revenge, but later found out that Akuma had been defeated by Sean, Ken's student.  This sparks Bison's interest in Sean and he sets out to find Sean and hopefully get him to join  him as his right hand man.  The new, temporary body isn't as strong as its previous container, however, it's faster, which makes up for the lost of power.  He still has his Psycho powers (Psycho crusher, etc.) with some added moves that he inherited with the Cammy DNA.  Even though Bison has a petite look to him...he can still cause significant damage to anyone who opposes him...or more like...her.  :)

Meet V. Wire!!!

Remember a few posts ago in regards to me making up a fake Street Fighter game?  Well, the characters have been designed and here's one of 14 playable characters in this particular series.  This guy's name is V. Wire (short for Viral Wire).  He specializes in Electrokinesis and uses thin metal retractable wires to snare his opponent to shock them using the wire as a conductor.  His speed is pretty moderate.  Not too fast or slow.  His hand to hand combat is mixed with acrobatics which he uses his wire to help him with swinging attacks (think Spider Man).  The rods (or what have you) that stick out of his costume help amplify his Electrokinesis (there's one also on his back).  He's seeks M. Bison for unknown reasons which makes it hard to figure out whether he is a friend or foe.  Anyone who becomes an obstacle to him during his journey will not live to see the next day.

Up Up and Away Web - Part 2

Well, I have put the background of the city in this Spidey collage.  Next up are the colors which will be done by a friend of mine. So stay tuned for the final!!!

Up Up and Away Web - Part 1

Howdy all!  I has been a while since I have posted something.  Me and motivation had a falling out and decided not to talk to one another for a while, however, the good news is that we have reconciled and are on good terms again.  Haha.  Anywho, to celebrate getting back together I have cooked something up for a commission piece which features Spiderman, Scarlet Spiderman, Scarlet Spiderman (in his alternate outfit), Spiderman 2099, and the NEW Ultimate Spiderman.  So far this is the line work for the Spidey Clan and I will piece in the background for them later on.  Hope you enjoy!

I'm Not Like Those Pigs

It's been a while since I've posted BG's for my little animation short for Cerulean.  Yeah, I know...these are somewhat boring, but they are also pretty profound, which won't come across until production is complete.  But until then...here we go.  Oh, and if you want to figure out a little more about this piece that I am working on...the answer lies within each entry regarding the short.  Enjoy.

Enter Garuda

That's right.  Garuda makes the roster for this one.  I mean...it just seems right.  He is a demon that feeds off of negative energy and the like that is associated with the Satsui no Hadou.  He appears in the SF Ex installments but later disappears (you can read the story here:  http://www.fightersgeneration.com/characters/garuda.html).  I've always been a fan of Garuda and knew he was evil in many ways, but didn't really know his background all that well.  After doing some research, he will fit just fine in my personal installment for SF.  I mean...it makes sense right? Sean, the new Dark Hadou warrior capable of defeating Akuma and possibly being the strongest fighter out there with murderous intent.  It's like an invitation!  "Hey, I'm super evil bad awesome!!!  Let's mingle!!!"

Anyways, his outfit is still somewhat the same with some minor changes.  Mainly within the mask.  Other than that...I'm pleased.  Onward to more characters!!!

Sean Finalized

That's right folks!  I have finished my concept for Sean.  I'm pretty stoked about the outcome, are you?  Haha.  Well...I gave him scars, flared his hair out a little, beefed him up, hid his face behind a piece of cloth that's from Akuma's Gi, and ravaged his clothing.

More Sean!

Took some time out of my day to do a 30 minute concept sketch of Sean.  I'm figuring out his whole scar pattern at the moment, to which, I am please with this first pass.  I decided to chop his hair and have it flair out a little more, since he is going to be considered the "new Akuma" in this fan game.  I was thinking facial hair as well considering it takes place several years later, but I think I will figure that ditty out on the next pass.  Alrighty, time for cereal, cartoons, and bed.  Enjoy!

Street Fighter Fever

Still doing small designs here and there for my fan game of SF.  Not so Capcom here, but I took a previous character design and flipped him around a bit.  Really I just added a larger tattoo on his torso.  You know SF tends to have a lot of odd ball characters, right?  Well this guy is one of them.  Nothing further to report other than 3D goodness happening this weekend.  I'm sure I will have something to show during that time, if not at the start of the week.  Cheers!

Oh...I think I will get rid of the scales too. Now that I look at them...I'm not really feeling them.  Haha.

Here Comes A New Challenger!!!!

Hello all!!!  For the past couple of days...well maybe more than that, I have been itching to draw out some Street Fighter concepts for a Street Fighter game, that's if I was ever to be in such a position.  Anywho, I sat down for a few hours and threw out some designs.  I started off with Guile, who I decided to chop his hair completely off and give him more of a designer tank top.  Next, I said to myself, if I was ever to develop a roster for the next Street Fighter, I would definitely have Mel in there.  Up next would be Chun Li.  I would make her a bit older, which isn't all that noticeable in this sketch, and I would also give her a new outfit as well.  The scheme would still be blue, white, and yellow...just a different design pattern.  And finally, for this set, Sean.  He would have grown his dreads a little more and also would have become the next Dark Hadou character.  I was also thinking about putting scars on him too, but omitted them for this pass.  Yes, there is a story behind that, but I am too tired to tell it.  Haha.  Also, the next Street Fighter would take place about 10-15 years after the previous Street Fighter.  Okay, I am done and I think I have gotten the Street Fighter bug out of my system for the time being.  Enjoy!

Pushing Along...

The animation in this entry is actually my first crack at getting reacquainted with Maya.  I started it and then put it to the side, as I guess basic walk cycles bore me a bit.  I also didn't finish it fast enough before bed because I was still getting familiarized with the controls and such.  But alas, I decided to finish it up.  One this I do not like about IK Joe...well...the IK's don't work!  Argh!!!  Well...at least this version didn't.  Not sure what the deal was, so I had to do everything with the FK's, which was still fun.  Oh and yeah...no handles that allowed me to move those hips either!  But anywho...that's all I have...next up...RUN CYCLES!!!

Saturday, May 7, 2011

Ack!!! Zombies!!! ...Or...ZOMBIE!!!

Hello, all.  More work with Maya.  This here really isn't a walk cycle, however, I wanted to play with the whole zombie thing.  This was fun.  I will have another walk cycle hopefully by tomorrow.  But until then...ENJOY!

It's the Month of May-a!!!

That's right folks!  I have obtained Maya...this now this blog will have a mixture of 2D and 3D!!!  Yay!  Hurrah!!!  And I will kick off this next post with a walk cycle I did with IK Jane.  I'm sure it can use some more tweaks to it, but I am satisfied with it at the moment.  Took about 2 hours to knock it out, so I am gonna work on becoming faster.  It's been a while since I messed around with Maya too...since college to be honest...and that was well over 5 years ago.  Anywho, hope you like...there will be more to come.  Oh, the animation (2D one) is still in the works...I'm almost done with the BG's.  Yes!!!

You Shed Your Clothes In Spite And Whisper

I'm not gonna talk much with this submission because it's late and I am sick!  :(  But, I did want to give you all another update with the BGs that have been finished.  I will be putting more life drawings up as well.  oh, and I purposely put two of the same BG up because I wanted to show the scene with and without light.  I know, pointless, right?  Nope...I don't think so!!!  Enjoy!!! *Mega Man dash*

Well I'm Doubting My Portrait of Skin...

Hello all. As it would seem...I think I am back in business with these backgrounds.  My freelancing has simmered down with a couple of ad projects, which is allowing my to do a little more with my free time.  YAY!!!  Well, here is the latest bg from the Cerulean animated short I am working on.  I really loved how this came out. So dusty and dusky.  Haha.  Well that is all for now...more to come.

Show Me the GOODS!

Yes, it has been yet another extended period of time where I haven't been posting as much.  I swear...my days are becoming more and more occupied with LIFE!  And the weird part about all of that...art is MY life...but I just haven't been able to get anything art-related completed or posted on a consistent basis, which for me...is at least once a day!  So maybe this slower pace that I am currently working with is a bit better, no?  Well anywho, I decided to have my own open model session at home. I found this lovely site that have nude models for us artist to sketch to keep out skills fresh.

Here is the link:  http://posespace.com/

Here are some pieces that I did.  They were about 2 to 10 minutes a piece.  Enjoy.  Oh and the BGs are still coming too.  Just needed to switch it up a bit.

We Won't Give Up...We Won't Give Up...Now!

Hello all.  It has been quite a while since I have posted on here...well for me at least.  Haha.  I had a few things that needed my attention and so...that's where I was.  One of which was an animation test!  But unfortunately, I did not get the position.  So...BACK to the drawing board.

One thing that I like to do when improving my art is to place myself in my own "Hyperbolic Chamber"...just like DBZ!  Haha..of course there's no time difference...unfortunately.  But really, for myself, it's a big thing regarding discipline and learning as much as I can within a short period of time, or whenever I think I have come to a point where I have new material and feel confident enough to try my hand again at working towards jumping back into my field.  Well, anywho...I can go on and on about that little ditty, but I won't.  Instead...I will just showcase more backgrounds as I am now back to focusing on my short Cerulean animated project.  I'm pretty stoked about this to be honest.  We'll see what the future may bring.  :)

I also changed the time of day of a previous background that I posted earlier when I started this blog. At first I was going for a day time, just to get a feel, but now, since I have decided to place everything within a dusk setting, that background had to change.

Shed Your Burdens and Build

More background work for this animation deal.  Since my last post, I have knocked out 4 total, with these two here being my favorites.  Going for the whole sunset/dusk look is so fun.  The oranges and reds and such...and a little yellow and a little purple makes me feel all tingly inside!  Well, for right now...there really isn't much to report.  Oh...background timing...they both took about 3 hours a piece.  Not bad, aye?  More to come.

Welcome to BG World!

As stated in my previous entry, I will be doing more animation work and of course...with animation there will be backgrounds to go along with them.  SO!  This little ditty here comes from a scene in my Cerulean animation.  The atmosphere throughout the short will be during dusk.  I wanted to get that effect here with the bedroom and with the colors that come through the blinds and reflect on the walls and everything else.  "Pill bottles?", is probably what you're saying to yourself.  Well...yeah.  One thing that I forgot to add before saving out this jpeg were the prescription information that would be on these bottles...I did that on purpose.  They will be in the final animation, also, I am thinking about adding a little more to this too and changing that "strength" poster as a whole, if not just the text.  Just to clutter it up a bit more, plus that text is bugging the crap out of me at the moment.  Considering the angle and where the character will be within the scen...I may not be able to add much.  But we'll see when we get to that part.

I Would Love To Take You There...

I had a BLAST doing this one.  So many elements to work with here.  Not so much as far as with color as I had wanted to keep things pretty blue.  Working with water...I think I am more proud with how the bubbles came out.  As I was working along, I had Frozen Creek by Circa Survive playing along in the background...this piece here took me about 3 days, I think, which includes errands and going to work in between that time frame.

This piece will be the last for a bit, because I will be animating for the next couple of months.  It's has been a while since I have animated traditionally, so I am really stoked about that.  More to come!

Background Design Concept

Nothing to crazy, but this here is a BG from an animation I am doing for my comic, "Cerulean".  I did the whole deal in Photoshop...however, the atmosphere doesn't feel sincere enough for me.  It feels more like plastic than anything.  In this particular shot, the character is suppose to be at the tip of cliff looking onward.  Pretty generic/cliche but it was simplest BG that I could do a quick render of without taking too much time.  Since it didn't meet my expectations in Photoshop, I think what I will do is try the same BG in Painter and see what I can get out of it.  Or...I should just get better at Photoshop (Oooooo, burrrrrrnnnnnnn).  Wish me luck!

Rebirth

I'm not sure if I am gonna add this one to the Second Love project, but I will definitely share it with you all.  As simple as it may look, it took me quite a bit to actually come to a good with how I wanted the background to look.  At first I was gonna throw a few objects in it, i.e. a heart or symbols or some sort of texture, but then I figured that, if this is indeed a rebirth, it would make sense to add a bright light at the end of what seems to be a dark tunnel.

Man...what a run-on sentence that was.  Haha.  Before the final "edit", I guess you can say, I originally had eyes within all of the fingertips and thumbs.  They were watching the baby as he was crawling.

Music of inspiration?  Their wasn't one for this one, however, The Most Dangerous Commercials by Circa Survive did set the mood as I was painting away.

Sneaky Felines...

Another pic for PTHSL.  This one really wasn't inspired by music, however, as I was drawing , the acoustic version of Ameliorate by Fiore was the only thing I was listening to.  The piece took about 3.5 hours.  Not too shabby.

Paper Thin Hearts: Second Love

Hello all!  First off, welcome to the blog.  Hope enjoy my work enough to bookmark it and send it around via word of mouth.

Well, now that I have greeted you, I would like to welcome you (again) to a project that I have had in the works for a while now.  This is more or less the second installment of this project I would like to call, Paper Thin Hearts.  These pieces of works have been inspired by music from a selection of artists, mainly one of them being Circa Survive.  They are abstract/contemporary pieces on how I view, well, love!

We'll start things off with this piece here that was inspired by "Someone Like You" by Safetysuit.  I am working on making these pieces of art into a book later on down the line.  Hopefully I will be able to accomplish that before the year is out.  Along with this project, there will be more art of many different types from concepts to sketches to animations!  So strap on your seat belts and get ready!
